Website Las Vegas Review-Journal

The Las Vegas Review-Journal is offering a spring photography internship.

We’re looking for ambitious, detail-oriented candidates with a creative eye and the drive to produce dynamic visuals. A Review-Journal internship will provide you with hands-on experience covering a wide array of assignments, including breaking news, major sporting events and world-renowned entertainment.

Your portfolio should show your strength in news, features, sports, portraits and in-depth stories and video.

Interns are a key part of our robust staff and are called upon to produce content for multiple platforms. Interns are expected to perform like staff members: shooting and editing multiple assignments on deadline, running live-streams and recording video. Interns receive constructive feedback from both editors and staff to improve lighting, composition, lens work, cropping, toning and captions.

Las Vegas is as dynamic a news market as anywhere in the country, and the Review-Journal and reviewjournal.com are the area’s dominant news sources. Southern Nevada is home to about 2.3 million people, plus up to 200,000 visitors on any given day. It is a diverse metro area with a vibrant downtown and cultural scene, and it’s a half-day drive or less to some of the West’s most spectacular outdoor recreation and national parks.

During this winter/spring alone, Las Vegas will host the NFL Pro Bowl, the NHL All-Star Game and the NFL draft, among other special events.

Among many honors, the Review-Journal won a 2021 National Headliner Award for public service; won the Society of Professional Journalists’ Sigma Delta Chi Award for deadline reporting two of the past four years; won 31 Best of the West awards in the past three years; and was an Eppy Awards finalist in two of the past three years for best daily newspaper website with at least a million unique monthly visitors. We’re an innovative, collaborative newsroom that’s been featured twice in the past year by the American Press Institute/Better News for our efforts to grow our digital audience.

The internship pays $15 per hour plus mileage reimbursement and entails a full-time schedule. The deadline to apply for the 2022 spring internship is November 19, 2021. Qualifying candidates will be selected the following week. The spring internship will run January through May (dates are flexible).
