Sales Internship Summary
Hone your sales skills with one of the most exciting tech startups in Reno, Nevada. MessageDesk is a business text messaging app built for small businesses. We’re looking for students who are interested in learning how to engage with customers and sell software. You’ll be working in an exciting, fast-paced, entrepreneurial, environment, so expect to move fast and get your hands dirty. No coffee getting or busy work here – only real-world experience!
As a Sales Intern, you’ll leverage our Hubspot CRM and various other sales tools to engage with, educate and close deals. You’ll work closely with our Sales Operations Manager, and Revenue Team to make sales.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include helping the Sales Operations Manager resolve customer support issues and move inbound sales deals through the MessageDesk sales pipeline. As a Sales Intern, you’ll use various tools to communicate with customers. These tools include email, voice calls, chatbots, and more.

If you’re an ambitious, self-motived, entrepreneurial University student in your Junior or Senior year of study, then this job is for you. Qualified students typically come from (but aren’t limited to) the following University programs: Business, Information Systems, Finance, Journalism, Marketing, and Communications. Responsibilities and Duties
Communicate with current and prospective customers
Triage and elevate customer support issues
Follow up with prospects and facilitate one-on-one meetings
Engage, delight, and serve customers via email, chats, and phone calls
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Desire to work across different channels, emerging technologies, and start-up realities
- Ability to maintain high-level of productivity while managing multiple tasks and assignments
- Prior entry-level experience with sales, customer support, or marketing roles
- Interest in sales and marketing trends
- Experience with professional email
Non-Required Qualifications and Skills
- Hubspot Inbound Certification
- Hubspot Inbound Sales Certification
- Hubspot Sales Enablement Certification
- Prior SaaS Experience
- Familiarity with small business and/or field service and professional service industries
- Prior job history in fields that require you to think on your toes, be personable, and engaging with people
Compensation
This internship is currently unpaid. But, based on your performance, we may offer you full-time employment. Please be aware that we don’t guarantee employment post-internship.
Time Commitment
We’re primarily interested in students who can commit 20+ hours a week to build their content marketing and writing skill-sets. We find that time a commitment below 20 hours a week doesn’t give you enough time to really hone your skills.
Where You’ll Work
Interns will work on-site from our offices located at 1575 Delucchi Lane in Reno, Nevada.
Earn Credit Towards Your Degree
We’ve worked with many University students in various programs to provide them with credit for their internships. We’re happy to provide academic credit for this position, but it is not required.
Please work with your academic advisor at the University of Nevada, Reno, or with the Nevada Career Studio if you wish to pursue academic credit for this internship.
