Event Marketing Internship with The Great Reno Balloon Race 

About GRBR: The Great Reno Balloon Race (GRBR) is the world’s largest free hot-air ballooning event. The event has floated into the hearts and minds of Reno’s visitors and locals alike for the past 42 years. With upwards of 100 balloons and 130,000+ in attendance each year, the event is a permanent fixture in Reno’s September skyline. GRBR is a nonprofit organization offering free admission because of its sponsorship and community support.

About the Internship: Internship with The Great Reno Balloon Race consists of learning in the field of event marketing and event coordination, working directly with the event coordinator and executive director. It is critical that the event intern is responsible, reliable and professional and understands strict deadlines. This internship provides hands-on experience for someone wanting to work in tourism, marketing and event coordination. The individual will learn about all things business operations for an event (public relations, retail, volunteerism, sponsorships, community outreach and more)

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Research development and fact checking
• Meeting attendance and participation with board of directors, partners and volunteers
• PR & Marketing
  • TikTok Strategy and Content Development
  • Content writing for newsletters, social media and digital program
  • Assistance with social media management
  • Some graphic design work (Canva)
• Some project management
• Some event logistics
• During the event: On-site event management with stage hand responsibilities and sponsor coordination

Tentative Time Commitment:

• Must be available from May/June to September 8 for internship
  • Required Attendance: September 3-8 for GRBR event
  • Optional Attendance: May 10th for GRBR Golf Tournament
• 4-10 hours per week, depending on meetings
  • Event week (September 3-8, 2024) will range from 25-32 hours
• Last day of internship will be September 8th
